Wright College has several sports clubs available for students, ranging from volleyball to soccer. The latest entry is Lacrosse Club. Alexander Reyes, president of the club, sat down with the Wright Times to offer some insight on what inspired him to start the club and what he has planned this semester.
Tell me a little bit about yourself! What is your name, major and some other things you want to share:
“My name is Alexander Reyes, my major is in economics, I would also like to share that I'm the president of four clubs in school including lacrosse. The purpose of starting this club is to bring students together through their love of sports, specifically LAX.”
What made you want to start a Lacrosse club on campus?
“Me and my friend played lacrosse together in high school and we wanted to stay connected with each other and we both loved the sport and wanted to share it with the rest of the school. We loved playing it and didn't want it to die down so we started to recruit and spread the word and got a good group of students.”
What are your plans for the club going forward? Any events? Are you planning on competing against other students or faculty outside of the club or even outside of Wright?
“We are looking to grow with more members, start hosting scrimmage games that students from the school can come. Also to get a field to play more freely. We look to pass down the lacrosse torch to the next year of students coming soon and from there hopefully get other CCC schools to get teams so we can play games amongst them.”
Lacrosse Club welcomes new members. They meet every Friday from 10am to 12pm, in the main gym in the Events Building.
