Last semester, the library’s operating hours were cut short in comparison to prior years and many students at Wright expressed frustration. Many of these students had afternoon classes because they have daytime jobs and by the time they get to campus- had no way of accessing the library and the resources they offer.
The Wright Times spoke with the head librarian Tanika Scalzo and this is what she said on the matter. “We only had four people working. We all have different jobs like two librarians who focus on students and visiting classes, teaching workshops. And two employees would check in and out books and they would have breaks so it would be physically impossible to cover all these hours”
Eric Guadarrama, a student at Wright added “due to the library hours being extended i procrastinated and fished it on time because I have so many classes i dont have the time to go to the library during the day but after class I usually stay up until 8:30 to 9pm.” He said that it helps that the library stays late because it gives him more time to check out books. He added “when I am overwhelmed with too much homework I go to the library and rest on the comfortable chairs and read the sports magazines that they offer.”

We also spoke with Brandon Barrosoa who said that “with all the tables and all this open space it helps me concentrate and it keeps me calm. With the volume in here it's fine I just block it out. I know it has been a big issue recently with people being too loud.” When asked if he gets overwhelmed with too many school assessments and this is what he had to say. “As of right now i don't have too much homework but when it was a lot of homework i definitely was like i need to stay here and even for longer till 10 and i would get my work done when the library would close and get my work done. The library always helps everyone.” He said sometimes he comes to the library to hang around with my friends just to talk and unwind.
