City Colleges of Chicago has extended its payment verification deadline, instead of a 3-day window, for the upcoming Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters, students have 10 days, from the day after they register to submit payments. If applying for Summer 2024 classes, the 3-day opening applies.
The 10-day period has come as a result of the major changes from FAFSA’s delay in distributing college students their financial aid awards. As CCC is among the many colleges that accept financial aid, they are giving more time to their students to secure their enrollment. CCC is not in control of when students will receive the financial aid award letter, ensuring more time is better than less time. The 10 window, is not permanent, only applies to this 2024-2025 school year.
Maria Llópiz, Associate Dean- Student Services, Advising & Transfer Center, broke down this new policy explaining, “We want all students to register before the end of the term, and this is the last week.” She continues to clear up myths, “students think they have to wait for final grades before they can register, which is not true, we assume success. Go ahead and register for the next course, and by May 20th, final grades will be posted, if you didn’t get a C or higher, you will be dropped and can advise the schedule.”
Llópiz continues to correct misunderstandings, “college advisors, faculty, and staff want to empower our students and make sure you have the correct information at hand, to make informed decisions.” CCC has launched year-long scheduling, guaranteeing classes to run. Llópiz is very positive about these changes because now students can better map out their schedules, around class times.
The deadline to register for Summer 2024 classes is June 1st, right around the corner. Students may have money left over from the 2023-2024 academic year, which can roll into the summer, and be able to take classes at a discount. Wright College is increasing its tuition, register for Summer, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025 classes before June 30th, so as to not be impacted by the higger tuition. Additionally, year-long scheduling has worked very well because students 2024-2025 financial aid award will lock in your enrollment.
With Llópiz’s positive energy, she is passionate about, “getting the message out to students, to not wait until the deadline to apply for classes. If you follow the deadline, you are going to torment yourself of the opportunity to see an advisor now, this is the perfect time, there are no waiting lines.”
Students- you don’t have to do this on your own! Wright’s financial aid directors and officers are hard at work, by providing all students with workshops to help complete the FAFSA. The last message for students is, “Finish strong and well with on finals and prepare for the upcoming three terms” Llópiz closed.
