Picasso came to Chicago at The Art Institute of Chicago. The “Picasso: Drawing from Life” exhibit has been open since Nov. 8 2023 & will remain open up until April 8th; Doors open at 11 AM, but they’re closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. The exhibit takes place at the SAIC building, located on 111 S. Michigan Ave., and admission is free by presenting your valid college ID.
Picasso is well known for his co-invention of Cubism with the help of a French painter, Georges Braque, in the early 20th century. Cubism is the combination of perspectives of the subject(s) into one artwork; usually these 2D works express 3D angles which give the pieces that unique look that would be well known for years. Throughout his life, Picasso would make works that were new and recognized that distinguished from other artists. As of now, these said works are ready for viewing at the Art Institute (Not ALL of his works, of course.).

The exhibit will contain the many decades of Picasso’s famous works in chronological order. According to the SAIC’s website of the exhibit, it says “Featuring over 60 works—drawings, prints, and illustrated books, along with a handful of paintings and a sculpture—the exhibition spans his rich and varied 70-year career.” Anyone can visit the building for free with their valid college ID. They are also hosting a lecture about Picasso on Thursday, March 21st @ 6 PM.
