Students Express Concern over Limited Nutrition Options at Wright

Good nutrition, regular exercise, drinking quality liquids, and being outdoors lead to a healthy life. Is Wright College fulfilling this lifestyle? Wright Times asked students around campus about their thoughts on the cafeteria, vendor machine, and overall American food.

Julian Berry, majoring in accounting, said, “I buy food occasionally at Wilbur, but the food most definitely isn't healthy because of the sodas, caffeine, and too much sugar.”

Berry voiced that the food services are convenient. Though he believes there should be a larger variety of food options, because the cafeteria food is greasy.

Dylan Mitchell, a second year semester student majoring in computer engineering said, “American food isn’t healthy, it contains artificial flavors but it's still expensive. Some better foods are soups, chicken, and rice.”

Indeed, because of the poor quality and the chemicals in the food we consume, people die even in their 40s and 50s.

All students interviewed agreed with the statement: “With healthier food, humans can live longer and avoid early energy loss, weight gain, diseases like cancer, and diabetes”.

Building a healthy lifestyle consists of paying attention to the ingredients you buy every day in stores, to learn what is beneficial for your body.

Lastly, increasing exercise, something simple like taking a long walk around our campus as the weather improves.  As the students said, let’s care for what we consume, learn about healthy habits, and extend our lives.
