Wright’s Gamer’s Club: A stress reliever

As midterms approach, students may need a place to destress. Wright’s Gamer’s Club hopes to help with that by offering students a relaxed and fun environment.

Nick Rodriguez, President of the Gamer’s club explained that the Gamer’s club is for people to be able to meet and get to really know each other through games. Rodriguez said he wants members “to be able to experience the same fun that I have, by joining the club.”

Rodriguez explained, “we are not trying to be official or fancy, just want to be chill and Inviting.”

The gamer’s club is flexible in their allowing students to partake in the club through various methods. Students can participate virtually due to the club having a Discord channel, and they hold their Monday meetings in a hybrid setting. The club also meets in person on Wednesdays in the faculty dining area located within the Science building.

Rodriguez said a typical meeting involves talking “about the week’s events and vote on different games to play in the future.” Rodriguez said, “afterwards, we spend time playing games together and having fun.”

The club tends to have about 12 active members that attend their weekly meetings and has more members on their Discord channel.

The club has held gaming tournaments in the past for popular games like Super Smash bros. where they have given out prizes to the top participants. Rodriguez commented on the event, saying it “was a lot of fun to play games with everyone and have a blast meeting new people.”

The club has plans to hold more exciting events in the future, with the next one being “going for glory,” similar to the event held during fall 2022 finals week.
